Using Firefox, if you hold down the ALT key and use the scroll wheel on your mouse, it will navigate you back or forward in your browser. This seems like a good idea, but I’ve been having problems with doing this unintentionally.

I have a unique scenario. I’m developing Power Apps, and while in the editor, if you hold down your ALT key, it will change the app you editing to “play” mode so you can click around as if you were using the app.

If I hold down the ALT key to go into Play mode but then want to scroll in my app… well, you see the problem. Firefox navigates back to a previous screen, which closes my app altogether, and I lose all my changes.

Fortunately, I found a fix.

  • Open Firefox.
  • Type about:config in the address bar.
  • Click the Accept the Risk and Continue button.
  • Search for mousewheel.with_alt.action
  • Edit its value from 2 to 1.

This is all it took to fix my issue!
